    Ok?

I love this phrase. Usually it brings connotations of gambling. Someone who died playing chicken with a train can be said to have cashed his own chips. However, you can refer to anyone this way, and if the person was not risking his life — gambling — the phrase seems humorously inappropriate. As in “Grandma was just sitting in her chair and she cashed in her chips.”
